Head Like Fire Pre-Order

Head Like Fire

Head Like Fire is now available for pre-order!

I had set a deadline for myself to finish the album by Halloween and that’s exactly what I did. I am so proud of this collection of songs. It is some of my best work ever and I think you’re all going to really enjoy it.

So there are a few ways you can buy it…

The Back Cover of Head Like Fire

First of all you can pre-order it on iTunes of course. You get an instant download of the track “Devil” and then you get the album downloaded directly to your iDevice when December 6th, 2016 hits. That’s cool. If you’re an Apple person, go for it. You can also pre-order it on my Bandcamp page which gets you 3 instant tracks. That’s awesome too…

But I personally think you should opt for a Limited Edition CD copy of the album. Why? Well like I did with An Unseen Sky, if you buy the CD copy of the album, you will automatically be entitled to a download of the follow-up B-Sides & Remixes release when it is ready in early 2017. You also get a beautiful digipak CD package with photos by Gina Mizzoni Photography. Most importantly, you still care about music enough to want something tangible and not just a digital file that means nothing haha. There are currently two ways to get the CD copy, although it will eventually also be available in more ways after the official release date.

The first way to order it is on my Bandcamp page at http://davidrosen.bandcamp.com. Just make sure to choose the Limited Edition CD Copy for $10 (not the digital copy for $7). I’ll be shipping those orders out myself as soon as I receive them.

The second way is something I’ve never done before. If you Paypal me $20 (plus $5 shipping), I’ll ship you all 3 of my CDs, Echoes In The DarkAn Unseen Sky, and Head Like Fire, AND I’ll mark you down to get a FREE copy of my 4th album. Yea the 4th album is a while’s off still, but hey, if you don’t have all 3 of my CDs, why not get in now, right? And if you do have them, now you’ll have extra copies to keep sealed haha. Well that’s that for now. If you’ve read this far, I also suggest you watch this little video I shot of me burning all the test copies of the album. It features snippets of 4 songs from Head Like Fire and will give you an idea of what you’re getting when you pre-order it. I’ve got a lot of news coming soon with new music videos, the album’s actual launch on 12/06/2016, and more. Thank you all for the support. Thanks Wax Trax Records for sponsoring the Limited Edition CD. I can’t wait for you all to hear this album.

Head Like Fire – My New Album

Head Like Fire

After months of teases I am so proud to finally announce my new album, Head Like Fire.

It’s been both a long time coming, but also surprisingly not that long… seeing as how my last album, An Unseen Sky came out in April of 2015. I didn’t expect to release another album until 2017, but when it’s time it’s time!

As is the tradition, this album contains 16 songs (and yes there will be another FREE collection of bonus tracks and remixes coming later). Here is the track-list:

  1. Impossible
  2. Angel
  3. Made Of Stone
  4. Under The Dust
  5. Trying Again
  6. Devil
  7. Constellations
  8. Artificial
  9. Head On Fire
  10. Butterfly
  11. Burnout
  12. Out Of Everything
  13. Negative
  14. Free Fall
  15. Only In Dreams
  16. Back Into The Dark

You’ve no doubt already heard “Butterfly” in the music video which as of the time of this writing has had over 4500 plays! You may have also checked out “Burnout” on my Soundcloud page or heard “Devil” when it was premiered on the New Music Inferno radio show, but otherwise, these are all brand new songs that only me and my girlfriend have heard. And speaking of my girlfriend, how about this AMAZING album cover that she made for me?! She shot the photo (as she does all of my photos) did all the effects, and then I jumped in and did a little bit of extra stuff to it to finish it up. So cool! Make sure to check out her website at http://www.ginamizzoni.com

The album title Head Like Fire comes from the idea of me having all these ideas and directions I could go with my music after Echoes In The Dark and An Unseen Sky, and they were all fighting to get out of my head. I considered going all industrial at one point… All ambient… Making something very 80s sounding… Doing a film-score like concept album… There were many ideas, but in the end, I decided to go with my favorite option… Throw them all together and see what happens! I’m so proud of the final result and truly believe this is my best album yet.

The pre-order will go live within the next couple of weeks and I’m currently planning on 12/06/2016 as being the release date. I might end up releasing it sooner since, hey, it’s not like I have a record label telling me what to do! But I definitely want to take my time making sure the album is totally done. I also have another public domain footage-based music video coming soon, as well as TWO videos from Christopher Johnson who made my “Never” music video. I’ve also been talking with a couple of other directors about doing more music videos, so believe me when I say that it’s going to be a busy 2017. I can’t wait for you all to hear Head Like Fire.

Another Sky is Now Available for Everyone!

Well to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what took me so long on this one… Another Sky has been completed for a while now. At first I kept it as a bonus only for people who purchased the CD version of An Unseen Sky and people who participated in various contests and promotions… Then I was going to wait until every video and other thing that was going to come from the An Unseen Sky and Another Sky sessions was released… But that could be a while since we’re still working on the VR version of my “Gravity” Music Video and possibly another music video or two off of An Unseen Sky too. So I think it’s about time to make my album of bonus tracks and remixes, Another Sky available for all to hear.

Three 48 Hour Film Projects

I was originally going to post this last year when it all actually happened back in August, but not only did I get busy with all the other stuff I’m constantly doing, but I had to wait for all 3 of these films to hit the internet because what good would a blog about me doing three 48 Hour Film Projects in one year be without the proof!?

But yes, last year I agreed to do not one, not two, but THREE 48 Hour Film Projects. It was already a crazy July/August, working on Another Skybut as always I figured “hey, why not load up with three films that need to be finished within 48 hours?” Actually, more like 12 hours, since that’s normally when you get the edited film ready for music. So how did they go? I’ll  take you through all 3 of them:

Another Sky – The Bonus Tracks

Well here’s something I almost forgot to do! A two-part blog about the tracks on my free bonus album, Another Sky!

This first part will go over the bonus tracks that didn’t make it onto the full album An Unseen Sky, and the second blog will be about the remixes that were included. If you haven’t yet, check out this blog to learn how to get a FREE copy of Another Sky. After the second part of this blog series is posted I’ll be releasing Another Sky for EVERYONE on my Bandcamp page. But in the meantime, you can get it right now, for free, while helping me out! Oh and before I forget, how beautiful is that album cover by the wonderful Gina Mizzoni Photography? Alright, lets look at the the bonus tracks.

An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience Update

UPDATE 1/8/2016: WE WON!!!!! That’s right, “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience” won Best Animated VR Music Video! I’ll be posting another blog about our experience at VR Fest soon, but I just want to thank my developer Elemental Spark and the VR Fest for awarding us, as well as everyone who voted in the preliminary round before it went on to the final judges! So awesome!

UPDATE 1/4/2016: Thank you so much to all who voted for us… Because of you, “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience” made it into the finals! The awards will be announced on Thursday, January 7th, 2016 during the Virtual Reality Festival. We’ll also be there showcasing the video as well as “Gravity VR” and “The Invasion of 2012” all day at The Palms from Noon-Midnight. Hope to see some of you there!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since we launched “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience,” the amazing Virtual Reality music video for the title track from my album An Unseen Sky. Developer Elemental Spark created something magical and groundbreaking that helped us get the attention of many news organizations and even Google themselves, due to our cutting-edge use of this new VR technology within a music video – something that had literally not been done before. Within weeks of our release, various artists such as Bjork and Squarepusher started to release VR music videos, and now, as we enter 2016 (which will end up being the year of VR), it’s pretty much a requirement for all the biggest names in Hollywood and the music industry to start releasing VR projects… But we were there first, and it’s been a wild ride.

Closing up 2015

Well here we are at the end of another great year of music. As I finish up 2015 and a lot of loose ends on projects and things I’ve been working on, I also wanted to take a minute to quickly look over this year and let you all know what I’ve been up to.

Lets start with the NOW…

If you haven’t been on my Facebook lately you may have missed my TWO new music videos. Well, the first one is actually a new version of an old one. “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience” was one of the biggest things I’ve been a part of this year, and my amazing developer Elemental Spark, rebuilt it from the ground up with better graphics, smoother animation, and a new 360 degree version that lets you experience the impressiveness, even without a Virtual Reality headset. The new updated version is also coming to Oculus Rift soon, and is already compatible with Google Cardboard, but now you can also view it on Youtube and on Facebook. Or embedded right here on this blog post! Just use your mouse while the video is playing to click and drag to change your perspective within the video.

The future rules.
