So productive in fact that I really don’t have time to keep my website up to date! What WAS 24 For 2024?

NOTE: The below story of 24 for 2024 was written at the beginning of the project and doesn’t reflect what happened later with the creation of MISSING PIECES. I wanted to keep it just so I could look back at it and remember where I was when it was a 24 song collection of singles.

24 for 2024 is a series of singles I’m releasing on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month in 2024. There’s a blog post available with full details, but the gist of it is that these singles are all songs that had been started over the last 6 years or so while working on the albums Head Like Fire, David Rosen and More Content, but that either didn’t quite fit the flow of the album or I couldn’t figure out how to finish at the time or for whatever other reason just didn’t feel right to release. In 2025 I’ll be releasing another new full length album, and these songs don’t fit that album either, so rather than just keep holding onto them in the vault of unreleased music, and rather than just make an album that’s just a hodgepodge release that would end up slipping through the cracks (because make no mistake, these are some of the best songs I’ve ever made), I decided to try this experimental release pattern. With a new single twice a month, it’s a lot more work for me, but you’ll be getting a constant stream of more… don’t say it… don’t say it… content from me. It’ll be interesting to see if the constant new releases will help get my music out to new listeners. I’m still an album guy, and can’t wait for my 2025 album, but I’m also excited to see how this all works out.

I’m kicking off 24 for 2024 with my cover of The Cure’s “The Hanging Garden” which was previously released on a compilation album of Cure covers called Pictures Of You for charity. Now it will be available for all to hear on streaming. After that is “Burn,” a song I’ve been sitting on since 2017 that has had a finished music video for years! I’m so excited to finally share that music video and the song. After that… 22 more songs are on the way. I’ve got plans to make some more music videos along the way and who knows… Maybe some other surprises as well.

All the while, I’ll be putting the finishing touches on my 2025 album which along with these 24 songs, exhausts the archives of unreleased album music. After that album is out, I’ll be starting completely fresh. All brand new songs from the ground up. Nothing unfinished waiting for that spark of inspiration to figure out how to finish. Nothing just waiting for a place on the release schedule. Just 100% all new material. I actually already have an idea of what comes next… But first get your playlists ready, because I’ve got a lot of new music coming to you this year.
