Where do I start? I’m just gonna push through this blog post, because if I don’t do it now, when the hell am I gonna get to it?
I just got back from a trip to LA for the E3 convention and Salt Lake City for the FilmQuest Film Festival. At E3 I got to play all kinds of new video games, check out the latest advancements in Virtual Reality (while plugging “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience” … more on that later), and meet lots of people. At FilmQuest, I got to go to a Composer’s round table discussion and see a bunch of films, including a screening of my “Shadows on the Ceiling” music video on the big screen… Spoiler alert… It looked and sounded great (save for a few technical difficulties). Lets tackle all of this one piece at a time…
So what was some of the best stuff during the E3 portion of my trip? Well I usually stay with my friend David Michor (director of some great films I scored like“Snooze, Charlie” and “The Hoarder”), and this time was no different. Well I did get bit by a dog he and his girlfriend were dog sitting… That was different. Little rascal. Don’t worry, I’m fine… haha. But it’s always great seeing them and their whole crew of people. Then I spent three days at the convention.
I’m not going to make this into a full E3 run-down, so how about I do a speed round of some of the best stuff I played?
Super Mario Maker – make your own and download original Mario levels… amazing.
Unraveled – an absolutely beautiful game in which you are an old lady’s little yarn guy. Favorite game I played this year.
Earth Defense Force 4.1 – a perfect next-gen update to the Earth Defense Force series. EDF! EDF!
Chronos – A virtual reality Zelda-style game. Absolutely awesome, although the limited time made it difficult to really get into.
Lucky’s Tale – A virtual reality Mario-style game. I’m going to buy an Oculus Rift just for this game.
Super Hypercube – A VR puzzle game for Sony’s Project Morpheus. Very cool.
Nuclear Throne – I’ve played it at another video game event before, and can’t wait for it to come out.
Kings Quest – a great remake of the classic series. Can’t wait to get this.
Chasm – Another great Metroidvania style game… This one reminds me of Faxanadu from the NES, which means I can’t wait to get it.
OK that’s enough video games for now. VR was a huge part of E3. Getting to check out the final consumer version of the Oculus Rift was awesome and I’m pretty sure I am a believer. I love Google Cardboard, and will continue to use it, but i am definitely gonna want an Oculus Rift… Or maybe the Sony Project Morpheus… Ahh, I hate having to make decisions, but luckily I’ve got until next year to decide…
As you all know, I recently released the awesome “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience” Virtual Reality Music Video (developed by Elemental Spark). It’s still one of the only music videos to take advantage of this new technology, and we’ve been downloaded over 1000 times in the Google Play store. An update which increases performance was just pushed out for it too. If you have a Google Cardboard, make sure to check it out. I promoted it all over the show floor and people seemed to be excited to check it out.
So that covers E3… After a 3am drive through LA (actually pretty beautiful at that time of night), I got to my flight to get in early to Salt Lake City.
Some of you may remember that I went there last year for FilmQuest too for my video “Broken Circuits,” which was nominated for Best Music Video. This year, I was back for “Shadows on the Ceiling.” I was only able to stay for a day and a half unfortunately (I’ve been out of town ENOUGH lately), but I had a great time. Saw some of the people from last year, met some new people, and had a great screening. There were some technical difficulties in our block, but they were fixed in the first 15 seconds of my video (which kind of gave it quite a dramatic boost haha). I was told that they would try to play it again later to make up for the mistake in screening at the beginning, but either way, it looked and sounded great once it got going. We won’t know if we’re nominated for anything until the end of the festival this weekend… Fingers crossed. But regardless, I got some great feedback from people at the fest, did a little Q&A, and it was all good.
Now I’m back home and finally cleaning up my studio. It’s seriously a multi-day job, that’s how bad it was, but I’m almost done. This week is the Las Vegas Lift-Off Film Festival which I have TWO music videos in… “Shadows on the Ceiling,” on June 25th and “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” on June 24th (tonight, if you’re reading this when it goes up). I’m also doing an interview for Fox 5 News with April Kagan (the director of “Shadows on the Ceiling”) at 9:30am. It’s almost 8am. I should shower and shave…
What an exciting week. It’s been 8 years since I last got to Austin, but I just spent the last 4 days running around like the young man I once was. I was in town mainly for the RxSM Self-Medicated Film Expo, which nominated “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” for their Crossroads Award and screened it during the Pollygrind showcase. I also got to go check out some of the craziness that is South by South West. I also ate a lot of meat… I had a great time. Let’s start off with the RxSM Fest.
It ran from Wednesday to Sunday but I got in on Thursday afternoon. I started off getting to chat with the fest’s founder, Anthony Pedone, and caught a few films including On Her Own, a great documentary about real ranchers. I was dead tired though from getting up at 3:30am for my flight, and had to head back to the hotel early. The next morning I got started right at the beginning of the day, which also was when the Pollygrind showcase took place. Not a lot of people, since it was early, but the people that were there seemed to really dig my video. Plus they played it really loud and it sounded awesome. They also showed two films that I had seen at last year’s Pollygrind, Chocolate Strawberry Vanilla and Rebel Scum, both of which were excellent.
I then headed downtown for the SXSW Interactive Segment. I was kind of just planning on sneaking in to a talk about the Oculus Rift (the technology used in my new virtual reality music video, “An Unseen Sky: The VR Experience,” created by Elemental Spark). What I didn’t know is that the Interactive Segment was totally open to the public and I ended up sticking around for a few hours and got to play some games, check out some other virtual reality stuff, do some networking and have fun. By the time I was done it was too late to really head back to the fest so I went to a SXSW party I managed to get myself on the list for (thanks Collider) that was celebrating the premiere of the movie Unfriended. I’m not the biggest fan of those kind of movies but the drinks were good and I met some cool people and played this dirty card game themed around the film. It was fun. It was also great getting to go back to the heart of SXSW. I haven’t been back there since I worked for Sony Music (those were some fun days), so it was awesome to walk around those streets again.
The next day was my last full day in Austin and I packed it tight. I started off back at RxSM where I saw a bunch of cool films before heading back downtown to try to get in on a standby line for the premiere of Michael Showalter’s new film Hello, My Name Is Doris. After a 90 minute wait, I actually got in, and it was a really cool experience. Lots of stars including Showalter (one of my favorite sketch comedy people ever). The film was great, absolutely hilarious. Really glad I tried my luck at getting in. After, I headed back to RxSM for some more films including the awesome hard-core documentary The Color Of Noise. Then they did the awards ceremony where I got to hang out and chat with some of the film-makers. After a long day and some great barbecue, I headed back to the hotel. The next morning I slowly made my way to the airport so I could get home and start promoting the new album, An Unseen Sky, which is available for pre-order now at Bandcamp and will hit iTunes and all other online music services on April 7th.
I’m glad to be home, and I’m glad I got to go. It was a great experience getting to go back. Maybe I’ll be back next year for something off of An Unseen Sky…

As 2014 comes to a close, I figured this would be a good time to take a look back at what I accomplished. This is 2014 In Review.
The first and most obvious thing was the release of the music video for “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” and its fundraiser. We raised a lot of money that helped in getting the word out about the video, album and my music in general. The video itself got such great feedback from all across the internet. It premiered at the REEL Recovery Film Festival which was just perfect considering the subject matter of the video. People there really loved it which was a beautiful thing. It then went on to win Best Music Video at the Pollygrind Film Festival, where a year prior I won Best Experimental Music Video for my “Lights In The Sky” music video. Overall, we didn’t get into as many film festivals as we had hoped, but the feedback from the places it did play was all amazing and we still have some more we’re waiting on results from for next year.
While “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” was the big defining project of my career in 2014, I also did a lot of other great, exciting work. The first thing that comes to mind is all of my work with House of DON Productions and director Doug Farra. Aside from “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep,” Doug also directed “The Gradations of Purgatory,” “The Milkman,” and “Cho5en,” as well as some other smaller projects that I worked on. These three though were some of the coolest films I worked on this year and really gave me an opportunity to create some great music. I’ll be working on Doug’s first feature, “Finding The Truth” in 2015, as well as another music video for one of the songs on my second album.
I also worked on a couple of other great films from regular House of Don collaborators: Jeremy D Brooks’ “Jasper,” and Brian K Palmer’s “Spring Forward.” The premiere of “Jasper was a really fun night at the Vegas Indie Film Fest, and “Spring Forward” premiered at the Las Vegas Black Film Festival which was also a great time that I got to meet a lot of cool people at.
Speaking of film festivals, one of the most fun weeks of the year was my trip to FilmQuest at the Salt Lake City Fantasy Con. I posted a blog recap of the event where you can read all about the craziness that happened there. My music video “Broken Circuits,” was nominated for Best Music Video and the whole trip was just an amazing experience. Pollygrind was also a great time this year, as it always is. The festival organizer (and my buddy) Chad says that he may be taking a year off from Pollygrind, but I hope it comes back ASAP. It really is the most fun film festival ever.
I worked on a bunch of other great films this year too. “Pathos” from director Eduard Ospiov was entered in the Project Greenlight competition and made it to the second round. It was nice getting to work with some new people on that one. I also started the year off working at last minute with my friend David Michor on his short “The Hoarder” which ended up being one of my favorite scores I’ve done. I then ended up working with the DP from that film on my first 48-hour film competition with a film called “Dig.” It was a wild experience scoring a short film in one morning, but it came out pretty damn great.
There were also some various for-hire composing gigs I did this year. Not as many as 2013 to be honest, but I at least kept a solid momentum going. Hopefully that side of the career will pick up next year. In the meantime I did get more of my music accepted into some music libraries, so hopefully some of that stuff gains some traction.
Which brings me to album number two. I made some of the best music of my life this year. I didn’t expect to be ready to release a 2nd album so fast, but it is coming and it’s coming soon. The album is probably 90% done. Album title and album cover are set. Tracklist is set. Songs are basically done. Just gotta really sit with the album, make sure I’m happy with everything, and then master it. I’m expecting to release it in the first few months of 2015. The first music video off the album will be for the track “Dreams Like These” and will be online on New Years Eve.
And that leaves me at 2015. I am ready to work on some amazing new projects. I actually have 3 features I may be working on (as well as “Finding The Truth” which is already set). So right off the bat, I’m gonna be plenty busy. I also have some ideas for more music videos, and I’m hoping to make those happen. More jobs, more music, more everything. I can’t wait.
UPDATE: Well well well… Guess who forgot to post his 2014 Year In Review wrap-up before 2015 hit?!? Haha. So it’s the 1st… My new music video is out, and the new album title and cover have been revealed . But that’s not all… Right before New Years Eve I found out that “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” was chosen as an Official Selection for the Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City! I am super excited to head back there, as I had a great time last year when “A Moral Discord” played. I’ll also be announcing very soon another festival that it was accepted to. The past few weeks have been crazy, and the future is looking awesome. Let’s start off with a recap…
“If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” won Best Music Video at the Pollygrind Film Festival where it screened twice (actually three times due to a little projector glitch haha). Seeing (and hearing) it on the big screen was amazing and something I hope to get to experience many times in the future. Also, “The Gradations of Purgatory” (which can be viewed on Youtube by clicking the link) was awarded Best Nevada Short. I scored it, and it was directed by Doug Farra, who also directed “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” … So go Doug! We have a bunch more projects coming up together, and I always love working with him and his people at House of DON Productions.
I also got 8th place in a composing contest sponsored by music site Rekkerd.org. The idea was to create a piece of music that is inspired by an artist/band who inspired you to make music in the first place. Of course I chose The Cure, and created a track called “The Fallout.” It was a really cool contest to be a part of because all of the musicians had to vote on each other… It wasn’t just the usual popularity contest style thing you see all the time. Some of the other pieces of music were absolutely excellent, and getting 8th place was an honor. And also, the organizer said the track had a Disintegration vibe… Which if you know me, is pretty much the highest compliment anyone could ever give me, since it’s my favorite album of all time. I also won some really cool software that will probably end up being the subject of an upcoming This Thing Rules segment. You can check out “The Fallout” here:
In the past month I’ve also had my birthday, my girlfriend’s birthday, her grandma’s birthday (in California), and my grandma’s birthday (in New York). Plus two friends staying with me in separate weeks, Halloween (my favorite holiday), and a Community Event in the neighborhood I live in… So to say I’ve been busy is a bit of an understatement. I didn’t get to work on music as much as I’d have liked to, but now it is time to get back to work.
My second album is basically in the narrowing down phase now. I might still add another new track or two, but I am currently making my list of edits and adjustments needed to finish all the songs I’ve started. To put that in perspective… Last time I started that process, Echoes In The Dark was finished less than 2 months later. I think with the holidays and other work it might be a little longer than that… And I gotta start the promotional schedule, new music videos, and everything else that goes with the album launch… But the important thing is it is coming REALLY SOON. I’m aiming for the first few months of 2015. I love this second album so much. I’ve been listening to Echoes In The Dark and the second album back and forth a lot to make sure I really like it as much and I think I might like it even more. Oh, and it definitely has a title already. I’ll announce it once I have some artwork to go with it.
What else is happening? Well I have a bunch of film projects lined up. Just waiting on the film-makers to finish things on their end before I get started on those. I’m also submitting music for various potential opportunities and just continuing to push myself out there. I feel like I accomplished a lot this year. There are some things that didn’t quite go how I had hoped, but overall, I think it’s been a great year so far… And it’s not over yet.
Next week I’ll be posting another This Thing Rules segment with a new piece of music… Well, that’s not entirely true… If you pay really good attention to everything I do, you may have heard it before… But chances are, most of you haven’t heard it yet, so it’s basically new. I’ll get another one up ASAP too. Hoping to get two in November and two in December. Ideally, I think I’ll be ready to share a song from the second album this year too. We’ll see. Might happen. Might not…
OK… I get the feeling I might be rambling a bit haha, but you know what, I’m catching a plane soon, and like I said… It’s just been nonstop running around this past month. Once I get home, it’ll be time to get back to music. I can’t wait to get this album done. Thanks for reading.
It was one year ago today, September 3rd, 2013, that I finally released my first album,Echoes In The Dark. I can’t even fully put into words how proud I am of the album and everything that’s come since, so I figured today would be a great day to look back, as well as look forward to what’s next.
It was a long time coming when I made Echoes In The Dark. I had been composing music since roughly 1997, but it wasn’t until at least 2008 that I felt I was getting towards the possibility of making an album. Not that I didn’t put out a lot of other stuff in that time, but never an album of mymusic, under my name. It took me another 5 years to not only find the songs, but find the confidence to release an album that represents me as an artist. The funny thing is that now that I finally did it, I feel like I’m better than I’ve ever been and I’m actually almost ready to release my 2nd album… But more on that later…
You might remember that I went up against Nine Inch Nails’ Hesitation Marks on that day, and while “Copy of A…” is a great freaking song, my album got a lot more plays by me over the past year (haha). It started off a couple months before that date with the video for “Lights In The Sky” which went on to win two awards and be accepted into 5 film festivals around the world. I then had the soft launch of the album at the 2013 Paracon Convention at Binions downtown where I got a ton of great feedback. Once the album came out on September 3rd, I got a couple of great reviews and released the second video, “Whirlwind,” as well as the three interactive videos, “Dark Rain,” “Embers,” and “Reveal.” We then started working on the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Music Video with House of DON Productions. Before it was completed, however, Connor Biddle of the show “Paranormal Encounters” created a video for the track “Broken Circuits,” which went on to so far be accepted into four festivals, getting nominated for Best Music Video at the Salt Lake City FilmQuest.
With the completion of the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” video, I started the fundraiser which did incredible. It blew way past my expectations, and I can finally say that it will screen on Saturday, September 20th at the REEL Recovery Film Festival at the Container Park in Downtown Las Vegas (I’ll have more details and showtime soon in its own blog post). After that screening, on Monday, September 22nd I’m going to finally release the video online for everyone to see! And then we will also have it at Pollygrind where I just found out this week that it is officially an Official Selection (and “Broken Circuits” is too!). After both “Lights In The Sky” and “Whirlwind” were Official Selections (and “Lights In The Sky” won an award) at last year’s Pollygrind, I couldn’t be happier to see both of the new videos get selected too.
It wasn’t just the music videos that made this album a special experience. I’ve been working hard to become a well-known, constantly-working composer for a long time now, and I think in the past year since the album was released, I’ve probably doubled the amount of work I did in all the years preceding it. I think it’s probably just the exposure of being out there, promoting the album and its videos, as well as collaborating with directors on my own videos which leads to me composing for their films. With the director of “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep,” Doug Farra, alone I’ve scored I think 7 film projects already, and we still have his first feature, “Finding The Truth” coming up soon.
So that brings us to now. What’s next with this new year? Well first of all we’ve got a bunch more film festival notifications to wait on. You win some, you lose some, but I still have plenty to hear back from on “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” and a few left on “Broken Circuits” and I’m confident that when all is said and done, they’ll have screened at a lot of festivals. Of course I have more film projects I’m composing for too, some of which you’ll get to see soon. Most importantly however, I think it’s a good time to announce officially that if all goes well… My sophomore album might be ready THIS YEAR. I’m not gonna rush it. There’s no need to. I might even have one more video in the works from Echoes In The Dark, so there’s no reason to rush it… But I have an album title, a possible album cover, and more importantly… 18 songs so far. Of course these song need to be tweaked and perfected, and ideally I want to have between 20 and 25 to choose from for a perfect 12-14 song album. But I can tell you, I’ve been listening to these new tracks constantly, and I think it’s an even better album than Echoes In The Dark. Maybe a song will end up online soon… We’ll see.

So one of the main themes of my career as a composer so far is “when it rains it pours.” I might go weeks between projects, but usually when I get one, I get a whole bunch… And last week I ended up having to score 3 short films in one week. It was a nice little challenge and I figured it would be fun to share the story and the results with you. Oh, and that’s my famous cat, Lily Bear up in the picture up there helping out with some of my work. I figured I’d extend her 15 minutes of fame a little further… Anyway, on to the story…
“The Gradations Of Purgatory”
First up is “The Gradations of Purgatory,” directed by Doug Farra of House of DON Productions, who also directed my upcoming “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Music Video. This was a film that was made to be submitted to the HBO Project Greenlight competition. It tells the story of a man being given choices that will seal his fate upon being reincarnated. It’s a very cool, unique film and I really love how my score turned out. I’ve got a bunch of great comments on it and you can watch it here:
Also for the Project Greenlight competition was “Pathos,” directed by Eduard Osipov for Cohencidence Productions. Eduard and most of the rest of the crew on this film were all Las Vegas-based people that I hadn’t worked with before, and it’s great to be able to keep finding new, talented people to collaborate with. This film is also about a man that has to make a choice, although it’s a different kind of story. It came out great, and I really hope to be able to work with Eduard and his collaborators again in the future. You can watch “Pathos” here:

The third film I worked on was actually for a 48 Hour Film Project and I actually had a total of 6 hours to finish it from the moment I received the file to when I had to get the finished score over to Ben Yonker, the director. I had never directly worked with Ben before this, but he worked on a film I scored earlier this year called “The Hoarder” directed by David Michor. I like working fast, but this was probably the fastest I’ve ever had to finish a project and to be honest, I loved the experience and I think my score and the film came out great. It’s called “Dig” and it’s very, very dark and probably best left unexplained. Just go watch it here:
So what’s next? Well, sending out the rewards and stuff from the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Film Festival Fundraiser, that’s probably number one. I’m also getting ready to announce the first public screening of “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” which will be in September at the Reel Recovery Film Festival. I’ve also been working on a lot of new music that is almost definitely going to turn into my second album… And definitely be ready sooner rather than later. And aside from all of that, I’ve got a bunch more projects in the pipeline… Just gonna keep on taking on great project and making music. Thanks for reading!
Thank you so much for all your support on the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Film Festival Fundraiser. I didn’t even think we’d hit $500.00 but as of the time of this writing we’re at $1,001.00. As I’ve mentioned before, my family’s record store, Wax Trax Records is matching all the contributions, so that means even if we don’t get another dollar between now and midnight, we’ve hit over $2000.00. That’s just insane. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
At this point 22 people have submitted some dollar amount between $5 and $101. I kind of lost count of the people who shared the fundraiser but it’s somewhere around 60. Just amazing. So happy with the way people actually were willing to help out by sharing or contributing. I’ve got a lot of Thank You’s to post on Social Media, and a lot of music (including a few custom songs) to send out for the people that donated! Speaking of which, the extra bonus for me is that so many of you are going to get to hear more of my music! I love sharing it with you, including my Echoes In The Dark album and its Further Into The Dark bonus disc.
With this money we’re going to be able to expose “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” to a lot of film festivals. I was hoping to have another acceptance announcement or two to include in this message, but these festivals can take a while, even after their notification dates, to get schedules out, and I’m still waiting on confirmations. I’ve submitted to a whole lot of festivals so far though, and am still planning on submitting to a bunch more. I am totally confident that when all is said and done, we’re going to have a great success rate. Some of these fests aren’t even until 2015, so the news on this video will be continuing well into next year. Getting the video screened at film festivals is just one goal on the journey… Like we’ve mentioned many times in the fundraiser, this video has a great message about the struggles of addiction and recovery and I’m hoping to get it shown at events where it can also be beneficial to people who are going through their own struggles. I believe this video will have a long life ahead of it.
So now that the fundraiser is over, I want to thank our director, Doug Farra and his company House of DON. Of course, thanks to all of his crew, all of the actors including Victoria Cameron who did an amazing job in the lead role. I wrestled with the idea of releasing the video today to coincide with the ending of the fundraiser, but it would just be a disservice to all the hard work we’ve done to just throw it up online without getting some kind of local screening going first. I’m working hard to secure our first screening, and once that happens, it will definitely be up for everyone to see. First of all, my music video, “Broken Circuits,” which was originally just an Official Selection for the festival ended up getting nominated for Best Music Video! We didn’t win but believe me when I say, just getting nominated is good enough! I’m extremely proud of the video and so happy that it got recognized. Congratulations also to Connor Biddle, the director of the video. I hope he’s proud of how well “Broken Circuits” is doing. We still have some more festivals coming up that I’ve submitted it to, so hopefully it continues to have success.
The festival itself was a wild, crazy time. Walking through the crowd of 100s and 100s of fans dressed as knights, elves, warriors, comic book heroes, video game characters, princesses, fairies and more. Total madness but totally fun. I met a lot of great people, watched all kinds of crazy stuff like the battle arena in the middle of the show floor, and even got a chance to catch up with Too Many Legs Studios, the team behind the game Bimey, which I’ve done some music for. It was great getting to meet those guys in person, and they were doing a special live drawing competition where they battled each other trying to draw someone in 10 minutes. That ‘s where the picture at the top of this post came from. Thanks Ben! I’m looking forward to working with those guys again sometime soon. And yes, I did hold that pose for pretty much the whole 10 minutes, like an idiot.
Then there were the films. I saw a load of great films during the FilmQuest portion of the festival. Some of the stand-outs for me were:
“I Helios” – a really inventive and beautiful sci-fi film.
“Lessons Learned” – a puppet-based film created by Toby Froud from “Dark Crystal”
“Pac Man: The Movie” – pretty self-explanatory and really well done!
“The Last Ten” – a really unique and tense one-shot film.
“Carolina Parakeet” – a smart spin on the zombie genre.
“Rise Of the Kitchen Appliances” – a funny dark comedy about a man whose kitchen appliances plot to kill him.
“Cockroach” – another funny dark comedy with a guy who dies and comes back as a cockroach.
I’m sure I’m forgetting some because I saw quite a few good ones, but these ones all stuck in my mind. I got to meet some of the filmmakers after their movies screened, and we all talked and discussed filmmaking and who knows, maybe we’ll keep in touch and I’ll get to work with some of them in the future. Plus I met Doug Jones (the guy in the picture in the slide-show up above)… If you don’t know who he is, it’s because he’s usually covered with all kinds of crazy make-up and costumes… Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and all kinds of other crazy character-based films. It was really cool getting to meet him.
So that about does it for this post. I’ve already submitted “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” for next year’s festival. I’m not sure if it’s exactly the right fit, given the genre-focus of FilmQuest, but they were having a $5 submission special for anyone who screened this year, and I had such a great time that I figured why not? Speaking of “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” … the Fundraiser is almost over! Just over a week to go. You can probably tell from this blog post that I had a great time at this festival, and I’d like to get into and attend more festivals like it so I can see these great videos we’re making get screened with an audience, and so I can meet and network with more filmmakers… So get over to the fundraiser page and get in those contributions! Lots of great stuff to get for your money. I promise I will make it count!

First of all I just want to thank all of you SO, SO much for supporting the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Music Video Fundraiser. Even if I stopped it today, the fact that we broke $500 (which will be doubled by Wax Trax Records) is just crazy. I’m really happy with how well the fundraiser has done and I really hope that I’ll soon be able to share some good news about the festivals I’ve been submitting the video to. Even better will be getting to finally just post the thing online and let everyone see it! We’re still figuring out the best way to do it… Ideally I wanted to have a local screening first and then put it online… And I’m making some last minute pushes to try to make that happen, but we’ll just have to see. Regardless, the video will be available for all to see really soon!
Also… As of now the end date was supposed to be Monday, July 21st. However, since that’s really a somewhat arbitrary date (it was roughly the two month mark from when I launched the fundraiser), and I know some people that have told me they want to contribute but just haven’t gotten a chance yet, I’m going to push the deadline back until Friday, August 1st at 11:59pm. That means you’ve got a little less than 2 weeks to get in your donations. Remember you can get the limited edition “Further Into The Dark” download of bonus tracks and remixes, or you can get an IMDb credit, or even get your own song composed by me! As well as lots of other great stuff. So if you haven’t yet, now is the time! And there’s even ways to contribute that don’t require money… So make sure to read all the details over on the fundraiser page!
I’ve got another blog post coming in the next week with my thoughts on my experience at FilmQuest, the film festival that just nominated my other recent video, “Broken Circuits” as one of four nominees for Best Music Video. It was a great time and I think you’ll all enjoy reading about the festival.
I’m also spending the next few days working on music pretty much non-stop. I’m gonna have some new music to share really soon with all of you, and I might even be getting close to the point of announcing my next album… But not quite yet!

I am so excited to announce that “Broken Circuits” has been accepted into not one… not two… but THREE film festivals! The FilmQuest Film Festival in Salt Lake City, the Wasteland Weekend Film Festival in California City and the Las Vegas Lift-Off Film Festival happening at the Palms here in Las Vegas! I’d be lying if I said I expected it to do so well at festivals, but I submitted it to about 7 before the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” video was finished, and now that I’m starting to get confirmations… Let’s just say, I am so happy and excited! I love the video and Connor Biddle did an amazing job with it. I’m hoping to be able to attend all three and I’ll definitely be keeping you posted on how we do at the fests and if we get into some more.
And that brings us to the “If Only Tonight I Could Sleep” Music Video Fundraiser. Like I said in the last update, I’m aiming for a first goal of $500.00 (but the more the merrier, right?) and we’ve now hit $411.00! I will be keeping the fundraiser running until JULY 20th. That will officially be 60 days… and that means if you’ve been waiting… NOW is the time to show your support! Remember by contributing just a little cash you get a copy of my CD, Echoes In The Dark AND the exclusive, digital-only Further Into The Dark featuring an extra 12 tracks. There are also other rewards you can get including a song written for you, your very own IMDb credit, and more! So please check out the fundraiser and consider giving. We’re almost to that $500.00 mark, and with Wax Trax Records matching all of our donations, that would make for $1000.00 which would go a long way towards getting this video seen. It has a great message about strength and addiction and recovery and we feel that the video will really mean a lot to a lot of people. I’m working on some new projects right now, and I’ll also be posting some blog updates about the Further Into The Dark album over the next couple weeks, explaining some of the choices that went into making the album.
